Robbie Keane pays tribute to Terry Wogan

Sir Terry passed away on Sunday aged 77 after a battle with cancer.

TERRY Wogan is believed to have kept his battle with cancer a secret from all but his closest family.

Whether they knew him or not, many feel that in losing Sir Terry Wogan, they have lost a friend.

"I was in love with the whole idea of it. I just loved the idea that you could be on this unusual stage talking to interesting people from all over the world and he made it look like it was just a chat as it should have been".

"I would never dare to put myself in the same paragraph or line as Terry, but I would say that during those years watching and working with him, he taught me not to take anything too seriously".

He told the Press Association: "He was warm, funny, welcoming, generous".

Paying tribute to his friend, BBC broadcaster Jeremy Vine said: "Terry started doing the Radio 2 breakfast show when I was six".

Wogan then went to England and joined the BBC in 1966 and received his first big break, temporarily substituting for Jimmy Young on his morning show before being offered his own regular afternoon slot, The Huffington Post U.K. reported.

"We were brightened by his wonderful personality and charm as he woke us up every weekday morning, becoming an essential and much-loved part of our lives", he added. "We will miss him".
