Saints lock Lawes gets starting berth in England's clash with Italy

England has recalled scrumhalf Ben Youngs, lock Courtney Lawes, and prop Mako Vunipola for the Six Nations match away to Italy, as coach Eddie Jones looks for a second straight win to begin his tenure.

The only other changes to the starting line-up come in the pack, with Mako Vunipola replacing Joe Marler at loosehead and Courtney Lawes proving his fitness to be named ahead of Joe Launchbury in the second-row. "Danny, Joe Marler and Joe Launchbury will all have significant roles to play to finish the game".

It prompted praise from Jones, but the 23-year-old Zebre player said: "It's nice to receive compliments but maybe the tactic of (Eddie) Jones is to put me under pressure ahead of Sunday's match. They will be warmer, a faster pitch, different referee so I am anticipating we will be able to get our attack going a lot quicker than we did against Scotland", said Jones.

"We are confident we can go to Rome and win, but we're in no doubt of the challenge we face".

Italy coach Jacques Brunel has made only two changes from the side that gave France a scare in a 23-21 defeat at the Stade de France last week.

Devoto and Josh Beaumont will travel with the group, despite not being called up for duty.

"They're one of the great cars of the English automobile industry, but we want to turn him into a BMW!"

"We want to be absolutely brutal up front so there is no Italian player left standing at the end of the game". I do not think it will take long, but at the moment, when we get to the fourth phase it could look a bit disjointed.

0 - the number victories Italy have registered in round two of the 16 previous instalments of the Six Nations.

Lawes started on the bench against Scotland last week. We're not set by tradition, so next week we might go seven-one.
