NASA now lets you explore Mars through a 360-degree video

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity has been busy investigating the sand dunes on the Red Planet and before it started scooping off sand samples, the rover sent out stunning 360 degree view of Mars' Namib Dune.

Cracked ground, sand dunes and Mount Sharp await the user to witness a scenery that is not so different from what you would expect on our own planet. From your computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can see what Curiosity sees, all around it, in incredibly clear images.

Use your smart phone to explore Mars with me in 360 degrees.

Curiosity rover has been equipped with 17 cameras in total, which help with hazard avoidance, navigation, and scientific research.

With the exploration of Mars just beginning and other deep space missions in the works, NASA will surely continue to pique Earthlings' curiosity as camera technology continues to improve.

"We don't quite know what we'll encounter when we get to Mars", says JPL's Matt Robinson, deputy product delivery manager for the rover's sampling and caching subsystem.

NASA's massive Curiosity rover was launched in 2012 and has been exploring the landscape of the Red Planet since then. That's where Curiosity collected soil for analysis several weeks ago on its way higher up Mount Sharp.

NASA has also made the full-resolution source image available for download on its website, and there are wallpaper cropped versions as well.

This isn't the first time when NASA offered a virtual experience of the Martian surface.

For instance, in March 2015, as part of its quest to determine if Mars was ever a habitable planet, capable of allowing life to flourish, NASA's robotic rover encountered a region which scientists have called "Garden City".
