Somali plane struck by bomb

CCTV footage released by the Somali National Intelligence Agency (NISA) appears to show two airport workers inside the terminal handing the suicide bomber a laptop, according to the government spokesperson.

The employees then hand it over to a man who was killed when the laptop explosion blew a hole in the plane's fuselage, said Abdisalam Aato, a spokesman for the Somali Prime Minister.

A YouTube video posted by the Somali government on Twitter purportedly shows the bomb passoff at Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport.

The majority of the passengers on the bombed Airbus A321 flight were scheduled to fly with Turkish Airlines, but were redirected after the Turkish carrier cancelled the flight due to bad weather.

Somalia is battling militant Islamist group al-Shabab that has been carrying out deadly attacks in its quest to establish an Islamic state.

McCollum and Damian Lillard scored 21 points apiece, and the Trail Blazers handed the Timberwolves their 11th straight road loss. After Harrison Barnes bailed them out, the Warriors will try for a better performance Sunday night against the New York Knicks.

There has been speculation that the passenger was in a wheelchair but Daallo Airlines head Mohamed Yaseen Olad told BBC's Newsday that this was not recorded when he was checked in.

The airline said two people sustained slight injuries, but authorities in the nearby town of Bal'ad later located the remains of a man who was believed to have fallen through the hole created by the blast. "After intensive investigation into this incident, it has been revealed by the investigation that a crude device caused the explosion".

The plane's pilot told AP that if the explosion happened when the aircraft was at a higher altitude it could have caused the jet to crash.

Neffenger said events in the last few months have made it clear that the threat to aviation in certain countries is much higher than at any time in recent years, and "that competition means that the environment is a little more uncertain than it was before. Turkish Airlines cancelled its flight from Mogadishu that morning because their incoming flight from Djibouti could not come to Mogadishu because of what they said was strong wind,".

Apple Watch reports record quarterly sales
Apple has reported the slowest year-on-year growth for iPhone sales since the iconic device was first launched. This compared to a profit of $18 billion with revenue of $74.6 billion made for the same period one year ago.

"Laptop computer was used during the attack inside the plane, special experts are still examining the case", Hamud said in Mogadishu.

Daallo Airlines operates flights across Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa and Gulf region.

If airport workers are proven to have been complicit in this bombing, this latest al Shabaab attack has chilling similarities to ISIS's bombing of a Russian airline over the Egyptian Sinai peninsula in October 2015.

Somalia's government has said it will tighten security at the airport to prevent other such incidents. He said the findings are preliminary and the investigation is continuing.
