Curt Schilling doesn't apologize for failed 38 Studios deal

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher, failed video game entrepreneur and conservative political commentator Curt Schilling said on Tuesday he is considering running against Democratic U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA in 2018.

Schilling told Rhode Island radio station WPRO on Tuesday morning that he'd made a decision to run as a Republican in two years' time, subject to approval from his family. Setting aside his outspoken conservatism in a state that has gone for the Democratic candidate in 12 of the past 14 presidential elections, he also would have to deal with the fallout from his ill-fated video game venture, 38 Studios.

"The conversation you're having about the things he said about the 10-year-old girl, to me, is at the very heart of why this is a problem", Schilling said.

Schilling said his company failed because it didn't raise enough money, not because he did anything malicious or illegal, and that he has apologized to his former employees.

A September poll, meanwhile, gave Warren a 47 to 28 percent lead over Schilling in a hypothetical U.S. Senate race.

He also said he had chose to run against Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, in 2018, but that he must clear it with his wife.

38 Studios moved from MA to Rhode Island in 2010 in exchange for the loan guarantee, then went bankrupt. And has Bill Weld ever done more for MA than Curt Schilling did in game six of the 2004 ALCS?

And sure, Schilling has no political experience, and his biggest business venture ended up costing Rhode Island over $70 million. He, however, said he must first clear the decision with his wife, WPRI reported.

But, by hurting the finances of Rhode Island, didn't Schilling actually increase the Bay State's regional competitiveness?
