Clinton, Trump look to overcome weaknesses on debate stage

The decision was the latest play in a weird bit of gamesmanship between the Clinton and Trump campaigns over the debate.

The New York Times editorial board endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton Saturday, writing the endorsement is "rooted in respect for her intellect, experience, toughness and courage over a career of nearly continuous public service". "Well, that hurts my feelings", she said as the audience roared.

Given the tremendous levels of unpopularity both candidates have with Americans, no one really knows yet whether the debates will move the needle much for Trump or Clinton. "Bombast, well, does anybody expect anything different?" Likewise, 55 percent said Clinton had the right temperament to be president while just 41 percent said the same about Trump, and 57 percent said Clinton was qualified to be president, while less than half, 47 percent, said Trump was.

The debate will last ninety minutes with no breaks. Spicer pointed out that "Clinton is a career politician who has spent years sharpening her debate reflexes and beefing up on public policy". Regardless, Trump has been gaining support from new voters over the past month.

Monday's debate between Clinton and Trump will take place on the 56th anniversary of that first debate.

On Friday, the Clinton campaign released 19 pages of what they called Trump's "seven deadly lies", including his false assertion that he opposed the Iraq war from the start. She pleaded with the press to call Trump out for his consistent falsehoods.

Thomas Mach, professor of history at Cedarville University, said he believes the debate will focus on terror and immigration.

NBC's Lester Holt will moderate the first of three debates Monday, which will consist of a 90-minute back-and-forth with the nominees on three primary issues: America's direction, achieving prosperity, and securing America.

"Donald Trump is such a wildcard".

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The Israeli leader has sought to project neutrality this time after perceptions arose that he favored Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama in 2012.

On Jan. 20, one of these candidates will become president.

Trump, not surprisingly, has argued that moderators should not weigh in on the accuracy of candidates' claims.

A Trump supporter, Republican U.S. Rep. Chris Collins of NY, said Trump understands that he needs to put forth a presidential demeanor. I think you have to. Wallace has said he has no plans to. "I don't know what I'm going to do exactly". Tim Kaine and Gov. Mike Pence is slated for October 4 in Farmville, Va.

The debate will be history-making in another way: No woman has ever taken part in a USA presidential debate since they began in 1960, with Senator John F. Kennedy squaring off in a Chicago studio against Vice President Richard Nixon.

The Debate Commission says more than 1,000 journalists from around the world are expected to attend the debate Monday. Their research suggested that while they did reinforce voters' existing preferences, they rarely caused them to change their mind.

Clinton has less ability to get a boost in Utah from the debate, "only because of the ideological leaning of many Utah voters, obviously being predisposed to wanting to support a Republican", Todd said. The debates now drive news coverage well beyond the 24 hours before and after the event, itself.

Many other issues deserve attention.

The Hillary campaign will host the North Philadelphia Debate Party at 8:30 p.m.at the New Barber's Hall, 1402 W. Oxford St.
