Hornibrook proves he's ready in Badgers' win over Spartans

After rolling up 260 yards rushing against Notre Dame last week, Michigan State's running game couldn't go anywhere against a tough Wisconsin defense that turned the Spartans into an ineffective one-dimensional offense. The Crimson Tide received 50 first-place votes. Two plays later came Musso's touchdown and the momentum reverted to Wisconsin for good.

Are you a Wisconsin fan who forgot what it's like to have a quarterback who can step up and make a throw when the team needs it on third down?

O'Connor was off his game in a big way, committing three turnovers himself, one of which deep in Wisconsin territory and another that set up Wisconsin deep in MSU territory. Hornibrook also felt the team showed greater success on third down conversions, though there is still room for improvement.

"We know what we can do and we feel pretty good, and we feel pretty good with our team", Hornibrook said. "At the same time, you can't bank on that".

Wisconsin's elite defense reflects on dominating performance.

After handing Michigan State its worst home loss since 2009 and holding the Spartans without a touchdown at home for only the second time since 2000, nothing seems impossible for the Badgers. Watt stressed on Monday the importance of just having fun with the game, and the success will come from that.

Dantonio said Damion Terry did not play as he was "banged up a little".

Thanks to a 33-28 victory over IN on Saturday, the Demon Deacons are 4-0 for the first time since 2006.

MI will be a true test.

Wisconsin's Corey Clement, right, celebrates his touchdown against Michigan State with teammates, from left, Brett Connors, Michael Deiter, Olive Sagapolu (65) and Beau Benzschawel during the third quarter of an NCAA college football game, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, in East Lansing, Mich. Wisconsin won 30-6. They met the same fate in 2010, when they were 4-0 and ranked 11th, and again in 2011, when they were 6-0 and ranked fourth.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to play in the 'big house, "' outside linebacker Vince Biegel said. To be able to move the chains with that kind of consistency and keep drives alive was huge for the Badgers, and a ton of the credit for that goes to their redshirt freshman quarterback. The number of skilled positions will be an obvious challenge, but Biegel remains confident in his defensive teammates. "They know what they're doing, and they do it very, very well". "I can already tell on film they are well coached". He coached the Tigers to a national title in the 2007 season. "I thought we battled really well back there". But hey, they got the W!

Special Teams: Michigan - Peppers returning is freighting. Clement said after the game his health is 100 percent, but the unit needs to improve moving forward.

What it means for Northwestern: Things are trending downward for Fitzgerald's side, who look incohesive thus far, on the offensive side of the ball.

Wisconsin has snuck up on the college football world.

Wisconsin as always is poised to prove themselves as contenders. Michigan State just couldn't get anything going through the air and O'Connor's double-coverage throws were disappointing, to say the least.

But if that's going to happen, Michigan State needs to respond like it did the last time it lost to a team in red, or that rare loss will become more familiar.

"The fact that we are overlooked", Peavy. "I'll always be learning and my confidence will always be growing". Plenty of teams saw change in their rankings, such as Michigan State in a negative way and Wisconsin in a positive one, but there are some major winners and losers from the new poll.
