Princess Charlotte delights in first royal engagement

Government House in Victoria has been the home base for the Royal Family as they spend their time around British Columbia and the Yukon.

Bar Kate's dresses, the Cambridges' tour of Canada has scored few headlines, until today and a public appearance by the Royals' two big draws-Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

We're pretty sure this is the royal version of playing with the box the toy came in.

George and Charlotte are now with their parents who are on their second tour of Canada together, they will spend a week in the country at numerous engagements and it was expected the children would join them for a few tea party events.

The government house hosted the event and among those attending were several local military families. Prince George and Princess Charlotte have stayed put with their nanny taking in the sights around the capital of British Columbia.

William asked: "Do you want a balloon Charlotte?' Charlotte could also be heard to call William over, saying 'dada". George grabbed an orange fish-shaped bubble gun and started firing at his younger sister. Charlotte was all-smiles throughout, giddy as she floated from one activity to the next.

Miss Callaghan chatted with Kate, who was wearing a cream dress by See by Chloe.

Three-year-old George enjoys some bubbles.

The petting zoo was manned by teenage volunteers for the 4H club which teaches children about raising animals. She batted and hugged the balloons. And for the tea party occasion, William and Kate dressed Charlotte in a blue cotton dress (with "coral embroidered details"), made by Pepa & Co., as well as a navy blue cardigan made by Amaia.

While the princess spent most of the morning with her mother, George was entertained by his father at a bubble-blowing station.
