Winston Duke Joins Marvel's Black Panther

According to Variety, Winston Duke (Person of Interest) has landed the key role of the villain M'Baku - aka Man-Ape. When T'Challa returned, Man-Ape, a proponent of Wakanda's previous hunter-warrior society, set out to openly challenge T'Challa to to the throne as he was against the technological advances being made in the country.

Black Panther adds another foe for Prince T'Challa to face. Michael B. Jordan has been previously announced to play Black Panther antagonist Killmonger and Serkis is confirmed to be reprising Klaw. Best known for his role in the television series Person of Interest, Duke reportedly beat out several other actors for the role including The Get Down's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Once one the greatest soldiers serving Wakanda - the fictional, hyper-advanced African nation ruled by Black Panther - M'Baku joined the outlawed White Gorilla cult, gaining superpowers with which he attempted to take over the kingdom for himself.

The addition of a second villain (after Killmonger) doesn't come totally out of the blue. Erik is also a villain in the Black Panther comic universe while Nakia is a former member of Wakanda's Dora Milaje. We've had some solid casting coming up over the last couple of months as Ryan Coogler gets things together with the studio for it. Serkis seems like a possibility, as mentioned above.

Written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther is set for a February 16, 2018 release.
