A public viewing will be held at St. Brendan's Catholic Church from 5 p.m.to 11 p.m. The statement did not say whether Fernandez had been drinking or what time he left.

"Since the incident involved a single boat and there were no survivors, there can be no criminal prosecution derived from the FWC investigation". The spokesman said boat stops usually are not documented unless a citation or warning is issued.

The wildlife commission is investigating. Authorities previously said no evidence of alcohol or drugs was found at the crash scene.

Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Bill Nelson said Tuesday the Senate resolution is meant to honor Fernandez's journey from communist Cuba to Major League Baseball star and his contributions to the community. Toxicology results have not been released.

The resolution notes that the 24-year-old Fernandez was jailed in Cuba after unsuccessful escape attempts and once saved his mother from drowning after she fell from a boat.

Enormously popular in Miamis large Cuban-American community, Fernandez defected from Cuba at age 15, won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2013 and became a two-time All-Star. Instead, his teammates honored him in an emotional pre-game ceremony.
