Bomb Detonation Caught on Video As Police Robot Attempts to Disarm

No one was injured in that blast.

On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., two men found the backpack and thought it might contain something valuable. Officials say the device used was a pressure cooker bomb also set off by a cellphone trigger.

There is no indication whether the latest incident in Elizabeth is connected to the bombing in a New York City neighborhood that injured 29 people and the explosion from a garbage can near a charity run in New Jersey.

Ahmad Khan Rahami of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was taken into custody after firing at police officer in Linden, N.J., about 20 miles outside New York, Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage said.

"Service was suspended Sunday evening due to police activity near the Elizabeth, NJ station and passengers should be prepared for the possibility of additional cancellations and delays throughout the day Monday". During the process, one of the devices detonated. It appears that a device detonated as a police robot was attempting to defuse it and cut a wire. The FBI confirmed the discovery of devices and the explosion. "That was not a controlled explosion", Elizabeth mayor Christian Bollwage told local media.

Authorities are not certain if the bomb was placed at the New Jersey location or if it was discarded to elude investigators. Elizabeth is about 16 miles southwest of New York City.

Police earlier had released a photo of a 28-year-old immigrant wanted for questioning, and the governor and New York City mayor said the blast Saturday in the Chelsea neighborhood is looking increasingly like an act of terrorism with a foreign connection. All of those admitted to hospitals had been released.

Authorities said Sunday night that surveillance video shows what appears to be the same person moving bombs into place at the site of the NY explosion, and a few blocks north. Authorities found five devices in the bag.

The blast occurred around 8:30 p.m.at 23rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.

Several law enforcement officials told NBC News that they are concerned that an active terror cell with multiple players could be at work in the New York-New Jersey area.

The recent events have also led to an increased precautionary police presence surrounding NJ Transit's New Brunswick train station this morning after a suspicious package was found on top of the Douglas Parking Deck on the Rutgers New Brunswick campus.

He said the men were being sought as potential witnesses. Men had found the backpack earlier, walked it around the corner, thinking there was something of value in it, but when they opened it, they saw wires and a pipe in the bag.

An interesting side story to the New York/New Jersey bombings involves two men who may be the luckiest guys walking around alive in New Jersey today.
