The 4 Best Political Moments From The Emmys

After giving a amusing anti-acceptance speech in which she apologized to everyone who helped her win the Emmy, she dropped the emotional hammer.

The emotional news came after Julia commented on the current political environment in the USA, for which she personally apologized.

"Veep" won best comedy series at the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night.

She said: "Jews were other-ized in Nazi Germany to gain political power for Hitler, and right now, Donald Trump is doing the same thing".

"So I certainly do promise to rebuild that wall and make Mexico pay for it", she quipped, referencing Republican nominee Donald Trump's controversial immigration policy. "I'm so glad that he liked Veep because his opinion was the one that really mattered", she said. On Friday, her father, Willie Louis-Dreyfus died.

Biting political satire "Veep" is seeking its second consecutive best comedy series award, and bleak political drama "House of Cards" is looking for its first major win, as are its stars, Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.

The "Veep" actress narrated a documentary titled Generosity of Eye about the collection, after her father chose to open a dedicated art space in Mount Kisco, New York.

British comedian John Oliver won the outstanding variety talk series award for Last Week Tonight, beating James Corden's Late, Late Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

"I think there's great stuff on network, on streaming, on cable", "Master of None" co-creator Alan Yang said backstage.

Courtney B. Vance, 56, won his first career Emmy for best actor in a limited series for his role as famed Simpson defense attorney Johnnie Cochran.

But the top drama acting trophies were far from predictable: Rami Malek of "Mr. Robot" and Tatiana Maslany of "Orphan Black" were the winners, both overcoming heavyweight competition.

Midway through her time on stage, we TV viewers could hear gasps from the audience as the 55-year-old, with hands shaking, announced her father passed away two days prior.

"Transparent", the comedy series about a Jewish family whose father comes out as transgender won for both for its director Jill Soloway and lead actor Jeffrey Tambor.
