Surviving Beatles say they haven't seen new 'Eight Days A Week' documentary

The singer-songwriter and drummer posed for photographs on a blue carpet in London's Leicester Square for the "The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years" premiere, which drew hundreds of cheering fans as well as celebrities such as Madonna, Eric Clapton, Bob Geldof and Liam Gallagher.

Sir Paul said: "We were kind of quite intelligent guys, looking at the political scene and, coming from Liverpool, we played with black bands and black people in the audience, it didn't matter to us".

Howard said that as well as receiving help from McCartney and Starr for the film, Lennon's and Harrison's widows, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, who attended the premiere, had also contributed to the project. The film - produced by McCartney, Starr, Ono, and Olivia Harrison - offers up exclusive footage of the lads from Liverpool in the early days, as they made their way to small clubs to selling out giant stadiums.

"So that's very emotional and very special to see that again", he told reporters.

The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years is in United Kingdom cinemas now.

In one interview, Lennon said the hysteria at their performances turned Beatles concerts into "a freak show".

With the film covering the years up to The Beatles' final gig at Los Angeles' Candlestick Park, Howard said that he would be interested in making another film about the band's post-touring years.

Starr told the BBC they realised it was the moment to stop: "We had just had enough, we knew that was the last gig, it was time. It was time. You can only do that for so long".

Howard says he was surprised to learn that touring the U.S. South, the Beatles took a stand against segregation. "So to see us performing as a band is [a] great thing".

I think I was the last to give in.
