Plugging in this date will permanently crash your iPhone

Feb 14, 2016, 06:16

Even if you're in a time zone where resetting the date to January 1, 1970 doesn't brick your phone, it's still not worth trying since there isn't a secret cool Easter egg waiting for you no matter what.

The bug exists because Unix time is calculated starting from January 1, 1970 at midnight Greenwich Mean Time.

Clinton, Sanders Agree--Except When They Don't
Clinton said that Obama's Wall Steeet largesse in 2008 didn't prevent him from pushing through new regulations on the industry. More than one-fourth of the state's population is black, making it a more diverse state than either Iowa or New Hampshire.

Well here we go again, another way to brick iPhones and an interesting way at that, considering nearly no one is going to change the date to January 1, 1970.

iPhone users probably aren't aware, but by setting it to a specific date, you can actually kill your device. "I've tried restoring, updating, but nothing seems to be working". Apple says it's looking into the bug. Manually setting your Apple gadget to that date apparently causes a conflict that will chock the device. Techie commenters on Reddit and elsewhere note that's the start of Unix time, a way for developers to track time as a running total of seconds.

Six shot dead at Saudi Arabia education department
Over 90 people - both soldiers and civilians - were also killed in the shelling by Yemen rebels in the Jazan border region. Zarif argued that the two countries could find common ground over Yemen and Syria .

Apple has always bragged about their "no viruses" reputation, however, if you are dumb and decide to do this hack, you will definitely get one. Change the date on your iPhone to January 1, 1970, press and hold the power button to reboot your device, and prepare for a wild ride!

In the videos, the iPhone works immediately after the date is set all the way back.
