Times Listening To Bob Dylan's Lyrics Is A Spiritual Experience

The 75-year-old is arguably the most iconic poet-musician of his generation. But quit your grumbling - Dylan is far more than a musician and he absolutely deserves this Nobel Prize. "His most-listened song after earning the prize was 'Like a Rolling Stone, ' which was increased by 258 percent", according to the wire service.

Today on AirTalk, Larry chats with former L.A. Times pop music critic Robert Hilman, who came to know Dylan during his years as a working music journalist, and even sat down for a long interview with him in the early 2000s.

He is the first American to win since Beloved author Toni Morrison picked up the prize in 1993. "Bob Dylan writes poetry for the ear. Dylan opened the doors to a rebellious and unique way of living and seeing the world".

Some prominent writers celebrated Mr. Dylan's literary achievements, including Stephen King, Joyce Carol Oates and Salman Rushdie, who called Mr. Dylan "the brilliant inheritor of the bardic tradition", adding, "Great choice".

But as yet they have not spoken directly to Dylan himself, he said.
