'Sound of Music' actress Charmian Carr dies at 73 Charmian Carr

Charmian Carr, the actor best known for portraying the eldest von Trapp child in The Sound of Music has died.

A statement from her manager says the actress died of complications from a rare form of dementia.

She said: 'It is with infinite sadness that I share the tragic news that the precious & exquisite Charmian Carr, attractive Liesl, has passed away'. "She will be forever missed", they wrote. And we traveled to NY with her on another occasion. She was such a nice, cheerful person'.

In 2000, Carr released her first book, Forever Liesl, in which she detailed her time making The Sound of Music.

After "The Sound of Music", Carr's only other major Hollywood role was starring with Anthony Perkins in the Stephen Sondheim television musical "Evening Primrose".

After a short career in show business, the actress went into interior design. Her mother was a vaudeville actress, and her father was a musician and orchestra leader. It was a decision she never regretted. Her most famous client was Michael Jackson. It was his favorite film and they shared a special friendship.

She was just 21 when she starred in the film. We all send condolences to her family'.

"I tell people that they should consider sing-a-long to Sound Of Music like going to a therapist", she said in a 2005 interview. She attended the gala performance of the first one which was held at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City and attended nearly all of the shows at the Hollywood Bowl until 2012. "She loved meeting fans and hearing stories about how "The Sound of Music" touched their lives (sic)".

Tributes are flowing for the star on social media, who is survived by her two daughters and four grandchildren.
