Pak needles India, Sharif dedicates Eid to 'sacrifices' of Kashmiris

"We dedicate this Eid to the endless sacrifices of Kashmiri people and will continue to dedicate all coming Eids to the Kashmiris till the issue of Kashmir is resolved in accordance with their wishes", the prime minister said in his message.

He also congratulated the whole nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Five congregations were arranged at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The first one was held at 7, the second one at 8 and the third one at 9 in the mornig.

Police have also made elaborate security arrangements and thousands of policemen were deployed to safeguard places of worship and important places during the three-day festivities. In Lucknow, people offered Namaz at Nadwa College, Eidgah Aishbagh, Tile Wali Masjid, Asifi Imambara and at all other major mosques in Lucknow.

The eid celebrations reached the peak with the Muslims sacrificing animals commemorating Hazrat Ibrahim's devotion to Allah as illustrated by his readiness to give up his beloved son Hazrat Ismail.

State-run Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private TV channels are airing special programmes on the occasion. Newspapers have already published special supplements on the occasion, reports BSS. The main city streets and road islands will be decorated with the national flags and banners inscribed with "Eid Mubarak" in Bangla and Arabic.

In his Eid message, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said that Eid was a day of expressing willingness to be ready to offer highest sacrifice in the cause of Almighty Allah.

In Karachi main congregation of Eid was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah where Acting President Mian Raza Rabbani, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and Deputy Mayor Karachi Arshad Wohra offered Eid prayers along with cabinet members and other notables.

On then occasions, special diets are being served in hospitals, jails, government child families, Chotomoni Nibash, centres for persons with disabilities, shelter homes, orphanages, vagrant welfare and destitute welfare centres. Of those, DSCC organised 228 congregations and DNCC 180.

Eid-ul-Azha or Baqrid is being celebrated in different parts of the country today.

According to the Met Office, the rains are unlikely to stop throughout the day.
