North Carolina GOP office damaged by fire, Nazi graffiti

Hillsborough police are investigating the apparent weekend firebombing of the Orange County Republican headquarters, an incident that one GOP official called an act of "political terrorism." . The words, "Nazi Republicans get out of town or else" were spray painted on a next-door building.

"Whether you are Republican, Democrat, or Independent, all Americans should be outraged by this hate-filled and violent attack against our democracy", Dallas Woodhouse, the party's executive director, said in a release. It happened at 347 Ja-Max Drive and was discovered Sunday morning by another business owner.

Police told WNCN in Charlotte that "The flammable substance appears to have ignited inside the building, burned some furniture and damaged the building's interior before going out". Local police are investigating alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He said people sometimes work after-hours, and he felt lucky that no one was there at the time."They are working around the clock".

Additional security would be requested for all GOP offices and events around the state until November 8, Woodhouse said. "It is a miracle that nobody was killed", he said in a phone interview.

'It willfully threatens our community's safety, and its hateful message undermines decency, respect and integrity in civic participation'.

It comes just weeks before Republican candidate Donald Trump squares off against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the USA election.
