Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt Divorce Reason: Weed, Alcohol to Blame for Split

The 41-year-old, who stated that the couple separated September 15, is seeking full physical custody over the couple's six children.

This will be Brad's second divorce, as he was previously married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

Their initial romance sparked a tabloid avalanche unlike any in recent memory.

Romper reached out to publicists and attorneys for both Jolie, Pitt, and Aniston, but have yet to hear back.

Drew and Will's marriage collapsed earlier this year, with the two announcing their separation in April after three years of marriage.

But after the media upheaval, Jolie Pitt and Pitt eventually settled into their own unique kind of globe-trotting domesticity. "Today shall go down as the day love died", fashion magazine Vogue said in an online report on the couple's split.

Jolie and Pitt adopted Pax Thien, a 3-year-old orphan from Vietnam, in 2007.

Pitt joined Jolie on some of her trips and started a foundation to finance reconstruction of homes in New Orleans after the city was flooded by Hurricane Katrina. Last year, the couple starred together in her "By the Sea", playing a glamorous couple vacationing together in France while their marriage was on the rocks. It made a mere $538,000 at the box office domestically.

The couple, who have six kids together, have been linked for the better part of 12 years.

To make matters worse, sources close to the pair say the split comes after Angelina strongly disagreed with Brad's parenting style, claiming the actress was "extremely upset with his methods".

At the film's premiere in November 2015, Jolie Pitt said: "You're going to have a long life ahead of you and you've got to shake it up and, sometimes, it's really wonderful to test yourselves, to push each other".

In 2012, after years of speculation, Jolie Pitt stepped out with a ring on that finger and Pitt's rep confirmed the news that they were engaged. Some even said that they didn't even know if they were still together.

Although "irreconcilable differences" is the reason cited in the papers, sources also said that Brad has a weed addiction as well as a possible alcohol issues. Filming was stopped "because of how he was acting, he wouldn't be ready for shoots, he was late".
