The company also made it easier to solicit suggestions from friends on Facebook with a new feature called "Recommendations".

Facebook announced a suite of new tools Wednesday aimed at helping users get things done.

Facebook says it's rolling out the new feature since many people already turn to the social network for recommendations on an informal basis.

If you want you friends' suggestions about what to do either in you city or while traveling, you can use the new Recommendations feature that you can turn on in status updates. Facebook will map out and save friend's recommendations in one place for easy-to-use access.

"Order food: You can now order food from restaurants directly from their Facebook Pages". Facebook's work in this arena would continue. No longer. Restaurants that use the service will now have a "Start Order" option on their pages, according to details the company released Wednesday, so users can place orders without ever leaving Facebook. "In partnership with Ticketmaster and Eventbrite, we're also making it possible for people to get tickets to other events - free or paid - directly from the event page on Facebook", the social networking site said on another facility users can avail by using it.

Facebook has always been a hub for businesses to interact with customers, but the social network is taking things to the next level today with the roll-out of online ordering right from within Facebook. Request an appointment from a hair salon is one such scenario, in which confirmation would occur through Messenger. Facebook's Recommendations tool helps facilitate connections and organize answers from your friends. From there, Facebook would allow you to place an order from within its mobile app. But Facebook is confident that users will place more trust in their own friends than strangers on the web - i.e. Google or Yelp.

This move comes on heels of Facebook launching a "Marketplace" that lets users buy and sell items locally.

Discover Local Events Facebook is a great way to find events happening around you and now it's even easier to discover new things to do with friends.

The expanded Events planner is expected to roll out in the coming weeks, starting with the USA - though Facebook's dedicated app for hosting and finding eventswas just released, if you're looking to get out of the house ASAP.
