Sam Smith quits Twitter after explaining his Oscars speech

Smith suggested that he was the first openly gay man to win an Oscar, which many tweeted was incorrect. The singer Sam Smith had to put the record straight after his speech at the Oscars, where he received the statuette for Best Original Song.

"Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiance", he wrote, referring to Olympic diver Tom Daley.
