Camille Cosby Testifies in Seven-Hour Deposition

Bill Cosby's wife has finished about eight hours of answering questions under oath in a MA defamation lawsuit filed against him by seven accusers.

Her lawyers argued she has no information that would be relevant to the lawsuit and that her conversations with her husband are confidential under the law.

Tamara Green, who has accused Cosby of sexually assaulting her in 1970, filed the defamation lawsuit against Cosby in December 2014. The comic, who has never been charged in relation to any of the incidents, maintains he is innocent.

Cammarata said Camille Cosby's legal team never pleaded the Fifth on her behalf, but did invoke marital privilege and instructed her not to answer his questions "more than a dozen times". Cosby is due for a preliminary hearing in the case on March 8.

Lawyers for Cosby, 71, tried to prevent her appearance by filing an emergency motion late Saturday night.

A former Miss America contestant critically injured when her auto spun off a wet highway and crashed into trees last week died on Monday. At least "a dozen" times Cosby's attorneys claimed Camille did not have to answer questions due to a rule disqualifying spouses from testifying against each other.

Mrs. Cosby was called to give evidence in a hotel in the north-eastern state where the star turned pariah has accused seven women of lying in alleging that he assaulted them - in order to damage his reputation and exact financial reward.

After numerous women went public with sexual-assault allegations against Bill Cosby, Camille Cosby issued a supportive statement, calling him "a kind man, a generous man, a amusing man, and a wonderful husband, father and friend".

In the over seven hours of deposition, just two-and-a-half hours were actual testimony.

Cosby has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, but a Pennsylvania judge early this month rejected Cosby's request to dismiss the charges.

Although Camille's deposition is for a civil case, anything she says could be used in a criminal prosecution.

Not that the public got a glimpse of the grilling: It took place behind closed doors and curtains at a Marriott hotel in Springfield, Mass., when Camille Cosby was deposed under heavy security.

We asked people in downtown Springfield if Mrs. Cosby should be made to answer questions about her husband.

Cosby's lawyers have said in court papers the deposition is "nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to pressure (the) defendant in the face of subjecting his wife to the shame and embarrassment of responding to questions about his alleged infidelities and sexual misconduct".
