Pokemon Z Should Appear at Nintendo Direct on February 26

Nintendo has announced that they will be holding a Pokemon-themed Nintendo Direct this Friday, February 26th, starting at 7 AM PST / 10 AM EST. Given that 2016 is the franchise's 20th anniversary, it'd make perfect sense for Nintendo to release a brand-new Pokemon game this year. And, considering just how big of a step forward Pokemon X & Y were for the series, it wouldn't be all that surprising to see more drastic changes in whatever game Nintendo has planned.

NintenGen's MetalDave reported that Nintendo has allotted a significant amount of marketing budget for an upcoming Pokemon project. On the other hand, this announcement could just as well be something entirely new- after all, this is the Pokemon franchise's 20th anniversary.

Besides Pokken Tournament, Nintendo also has the original Pokemon games releasing on the 3DS Virtual Console this weekend.

The Nintendo Direct website is teasing that the Direct will "celebrate 20 years of Pokemon" and that fans can expect some "big Pokemon news" during the event. Do you think a new game will be revealed, or will the company announce content for previously announced titles?
