Police locate suspect in shooting of a Mountie in southeast BC

A man suspected of killing a person in Saskatchewan and then shooting an RCMP officer in B.C. has been located, according to officials with the City of Revelstoke.

She was shot near Golden, B.C., Tuesday after stopping a vehicle linked to a possible theft.

"Multiple resources (Traffic services, Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and General Duty) attended the area and search efforts continued throughout the night; however the suspect has not been located at this time", Moskaluk said.

Earlier Wednesday as the manhunt around Revelstoke ramped up, family members contacted by Postmedia publicly urged Thunderblanket to turn himself in.

The search continues for the suspect wanted in connection with a series of events near Golden on Tuesday (October 11th).

Thunderblanket is accused of shooting a female RCMP officer in the arm before making his escape.

Cut Knife RCMP attended a home on Little Pine First Nation just before midnight on October 10 after receiving reports of gunshots.

The stolen vehicle was located late Tuesday night just outside of Revelstoke and police are now searching an area about 4 kilometres east of the community.

An extensive search of the area was done throughout the night, but no arrests have been made.

Sheldon Kyle Thunderblaket is considered armed and risky.

Search efforts are now focused on a four kilometre area east of Revelstoke.

Police pronounced one man dead at the scene, while the other was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Just before 6 a.m. MDT, Drive BC reported a single lane of the highway has been reopened for alternating traffic.

He has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault, mischief and breach of undertakings in the Saskatchewan shootings.
