Sacramento Kings Sign Jersey Sponsorship Deal With Blue Diamond Almonds

Nike will take over equipment and apparel duties for the National Basketball Association starting in 2017, so the Nike swoosh will be on the opposite side of whatever ad a team chooses for their jerseys.

Kings President Chris Granger commented on the burgeoning relationship between the team and Blue Diamond.

After more than a decade of failed arena deals and multiple relocation attempts, the Sacramento Kings will host Maccabi Haifa in their first official preseason game at the new Golden 1 Center Monday night. The new partnership connects the Sacramento Kings with an internationally recognized company that shares the team's vision for showcasing the best of California in a global marketplace, highlighting the regional roots in agriculture, and investing in health and wellness.

Blue Diamond Growers represent over 3,000 family growers that produce 80 percent of the world's almonds.

Blue Diamond will pay the Kings a reported $5 million a year under a pilot program starting with the 2017-18 season.

Sacramento joins the Philadelphia 76ers as the only two teams who have sold jersey ad space so far.

New logo, new arena and now a new sponsor patch. The company sponsored the US swim and volleyball teams at the Summer Olympics. The arena concession stands will also be serving almonds and Blue Diamond Breeze beverages.

The NBA announced it will start allowing teams to start placing advertisements on jerseys.

Fortunately for the purple and white, they were able to finish their first game in the Golden 1 Center with a win by a score of 135-96.
