AT&T Ponders Ending All Galaxy Note 7 Sales At Its Retail Stores

"A$3 ny Verizon customer concerned about the safety of their replacement Note 7 smartphone ... will be able to exchange it for an alternate smartphone", a Verizon spokeswoman said. The company confirmed it would allow this earlier today, but stopped short of saying it planned to stop sales and exchanges of Samsung's second batch of Note 7 devices altogether.

Authorities in the U.S. are said to be hard at work investigating the cause of a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 catching fire on a plane that was preparing to take-off from Louisville, Kentucky, in the United States of America.

AT&T Inc is considering stopping all sales of Samsung Electronics Co's flagship Galaxy Note 7 over concerns about the smartphone's safety, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The report, citing an unidentified source familiar with the matter, said that now the returns of the Galaxy Note 7 handsets are being processed by AT&T, which will issue alternative smartphones in place of the potentially- explosive devices. Samsung has recalled about 2.5 million potentially hazardous Galaxy Note 7 units and the company has replaced the majority of faulty devices. Various reports also suggest that the current scenario could mean the end of the road for Galaxy Note 7. Many people who purchased a Galaxy Note 7 have reported injuries and property damage.

Verizon is reportedly the third United States carrier to consider allowing customers to switch their Note 7 smartphones with other devices.

Customers can also return any Note 7 accessories that they purchased from T-Mobile. "Verizon online customers may also exchange their replacement Note 7 smartphones at Verizon stores beginning Saturday, October 8". AT&T spokesman Fletcher Cook declined to comment.

The recall has cost Samsung about $1 billion.
