Broncos will be fine without DeMarcus Ware

Team leader and future Hall-of-Famer DeMarcus Ware will undergo surgery Tuesday to fix a broken right forearm sustained in Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak revealed the extent of Ware's injury following Denver's 34-20 defeat of the Colts at Sports Authority Field.

Daluiski, going off reported information and video of the hit, said plates are used routinely to fix fractures, but they do not expedite healing. "We have to see in the morning exactly what the case is going to be, whether it's something we think he can play with or we think it's something that has to be fixed". The Broncos had cut Ware's salary in the offseason and added incentive clauses for sack totals, the idea being that along with the salary-cap relief, they could keep Ware healthier if they managed his snaps. Ray worked the entire offseason, training camp and the preseason as the weakside outside linebacker while Ware dealt with back issues that sidelined him throughout the summer. He will go be examined to determine if he can play through the injury or if he will need surgery.

Miller befuddled the Colts' offensive linemen with three sacks Sunday, tying a career high that he reached twice in 2012.

The chain reaction of changes after Ware's injury also pushed veteran Dekoda Watson into the OLB rotation. He appeared on 13 snaps in Sunday's win, and 32 in the opener. He grabbed at quarterback Andrew Luck's shoulder, and couldn't secure him.

"Injury-wise, I'll just jump right in here".

The Broncos will now turn to second-year linebacker Shane Ray to help fill the void.

Sambrailo was inactive Sunday.

Ware, 34, is a nine-time Pro Bowl player and key member of the defense which led the team to the Super Bowl last season. We kept our same routine that we had against Carolina, ' Kubiak said.

If Ware misses all five weeks, that means he'd miss games against the Bengals, Buccaneers, Falcons, Chargers and Texans.

TIGHT END VIRGIL GREEN is considered "day to day" after suffering a strained calf late in the fourth quarter Sunday. His injury is considered day to day, Kubiak said.
