Police have found no motive for Kalamazoo shootings

Uber passenger Matt Mellen said he took a wild ride with Dalton about an hour before the first shooting was reported, WWMT news reports. WOOD's Leon Hendrix reports.

Carruthers, a 25-year-old mother knew something was wrong when she saw Dalton pull up near the Meadows Townhouse apartment complex and she immediately starting instructing the children, who were playing outside, to move to safety. The gunman reportedly continued his shooting rampage a few hours later, killing six and injuring two, including a 14-year-old girl.

"Part of my gut said that it might not be involved, and part of my instincts also said 'this could be the guy, '" Harrison said. Dalton had no criminal history that would have prevented him from legally owning guns. "Joi, help me, '" the child said. "They're a very nice family", said Colleen Benjamin, whose husband works with Carole Dalton at the Kalamazoo branch of Raymond James financial advisers.

"Her mom and her dad were told that she was brain dead and that it was unlikely that there was anything else they could do for her", Hinz says.

He says incidents like that are risks that come with the job-something Uber also warns potential riders about.
