Peyton Manning to Retire This Week, Report Claims

Denver Post columnist Woody Paige reported Saturday night, citing two sources, that the Broncos quarterback will reveal whether or not he will play in 2016 at some point in the coming week. The five-time NFL MVP suffered through a foot injury before finally shutting it down for a few weeks during the middle of the season and he never seemed to recover to his old self.

The Broncos, however, deny Manning has made any decision on his retirement. Manning's first play with Denver was a handoff to Willis McGahee in the opening moments of a September game in 2012.

The Broncos acquired the future Hall of Fame quarterback after the 2011 season. Manning, who had been released by the Colts, was the most prized free agent in National Football League history. Both of those teams would be the most viable landing spots for Manning because they are viable playoff contenders for the 2016 season.

So really, if they don't have it already, the Broncos need an answer from Manning by the end of the day on March 8. Manning joined the Broncos.

Manning turns 40 on March 24. It is expected that the Broncos will move forward with Brock Osweiler - who was 5-2 in relief of Manning this year as the starter - as their new No. 1 quarterback.
