Ministerial level Pak-US strategic dialogue, 6th round to be held today

Pakistan and the United States are all set to hold a ministerial level "strategic dialogue" today (Monday) in Washington to discuss a host of issues, including counter-terrorism, security and economic ties between the two countries.

Talking to the joint press briefing, Pakistan's Foreign Advisor Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan was the country worst hit due to Afghan war.

The talks, which will be attended by the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, would be the third such annual meeting since the Nawaz Sharif-led government came to power in Pakistan in 2013.

Interim Chelsea boss delighted with progress made
The Blues boss said: "He [Traore] is eager, we have now healthy competition going on with the strikers, in a very good atmosphere".

USA lawmakers have expressed concern about a possible sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan because of its impact on relations with India and Pakistan's policies in Afghanistan, but national security adviser Sartaj Aziz said the sale would help stability in the region. Congress could potentially block the deal although such action is rare.

United States Department of State has stated that strategic dialogue with Pakistan will be held on February 29. He said that co-operation between the two neighbours to curb terrorism would benefit the region.

A transcript released on Sunday shows Secretary Kerry arguing in two recent congressional hearings that the U.S. has been working "really hard" to advance a "rapprochement" between Islamabad and New Delhi.

Pakistan has been accused of targeting some militant groups but nurturing or turning a blind eye to others. He said groups like the Haqqani (hah-KAH'-nee) network and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LAHSH'-kar ee TOY'-buh) seek to undermine Pakistan's relations with its neighbors. Experts say that Pakistan's nuclear stockpile is growing fast, and it is developing tactical nuclear weapons to deter rival India's larger conventional forces.

Earlier, Mr Iqbal said that the goal of the Pak-US strategic talks was to extend the relations between both the countries.
