Bayern charge past hapless Wolfsburg to extend lead

Wolfsburg are desperate to stop history repeating itself when they host Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday following Robert Lewandowski's historic five-goal haul in the reverse fixture.

The offside flag came to Wolfsburg's rescue 10 minutes into the second half when Thomas Muller squared for Lewandowski, who only had to stroke the ball into an open goal, but he was instead forced to wait for his 23rd of the season by a controversial decision.

"Big compliment for the team", the Spaniard said.

"We knew it would be hard to play against Wolfsburg just four days after Juventus", said Guardiola as Bayern play Mainz in the league on Wednesday. "It was a step forward again".
