JNU row: Umar, Anirban's police custody extended by 2 more days

Both Khalid and Bhattacharya surrendered before police on Tuesday night.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had ordered that "confidentiality" be maintained during the remand proceedings of Umar and Anirban, besides Kumar, while directing the police to ensure that no one "suffers even a scratch" and there is no ruckus this time.

Two other JNU students - Rama Naga and Ananth Prakash - are also expected to join the investigation.

Justice Samuel Alito: 'We Will Deal' With Supreme Court Vacancy
Wade, in which the court struck down abortion laws across the US on the pretense that the Constitution somehow forbids them. Sandoval's mention was thought to be a way around Republican senators' resistance to considering an Obama nominee.

Meanwhile, a video has surfaced showing Kanhayia telling Supreme Court appointed lawyers' probe panel that he was beaten up, pushed to the ground and injured by men in lawyers' robes before the police, when he was brought to the Patiala House court premises on February 17. After being missing since February 12, five of them surfaced on campus on February 21.

"I have directed my officers to transfer the case to the Special Cell as the matter needs focused investigation. In a case registered under Section 124 A (Sedition), the Special Cell shall do justice", Bassi said.

The police arranged for a confrontation among the three arrested students inside the RK Puram police station in the southern part of the capital for close to 10 hours, but that too yielded nothing that can be presented as an evidence against them.

NYPD Opens Investigation into Ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer for Alleged Assault
Spitzer served as governor for about 15 months before he resigned in March 2008 when he was linked to the prostitution scandal. When police searched the hotel room where the two were allegedly staying, they found items that may have indicated a fight.

Interestingly, the DNA report notes that the original "list" of students accused of shouting anti-national slogans did not include Umar Khalid as "volatile and reactive" but an interview with the students of JNU later revealed that the police only went after Khalid once substantial evidence failed to surface against Kanhaiya. Khalid and Bhattacharya were apparently the organisers of the February 9 event that took place on the campus to commemorate convicted terrorist Afzal Guru where anti-India slogans were allegedly raised by them.

This at a time when the debate around charging JNU Student's Union president Kanhaiya Kumar with sedition is raging in parliament, classrooms and homes across India.
