Edwards back in action for Browns

12:30 pm – Edwards spoke to the media contingent after practice today, and according to James Walker of ESPN.com, a contract dispute with the Browns is not the reasoning behind his absence from practice. Edwards is currently in the final year of his contract, and is expected to test the waters of free agency next year.

Here’s what Edwards had to say:

“The Browns and I are on the same page, and my team is on the same page,” Edwards said. “I’ve never made any contract [demands], so I don’t know where that would come from. That’s just more rumors and hearsay to spark up more controversy.”

Edwards reportedly displayed no ill effects during the practice session, running clean routes and making several impressive catches. With the departure of TE Kellen Winslow during the off-season, the Browns will be leaning heavily on Edwards to provide the team with production in the passing game.

12:10 pmJason La Canfora of NFL.com is reporting that Cleveland WR Braylon Edwards was on the field for the Browns earlier today in practice, after missing the past four days with a mystery illness/injury.

Both Edwards and the Browns have thus far refused to disclose what malady he is currently suffering from.
