Turkey's Galatasaray get one-year European ban

Every club in European competition is assessed and bans are the toughest sanction.

Galatasaray Vice President Esref Alacayir also confirmed to Anadolu Agency on Wednesday that the Istanbul-based club would be banned from participating in UEFA competitions for a year.

Regardless, this news will likely serve as a warning for many European clubs, though English sides are about to receive another huge injection of cash, and will probably be set for a spending spree of biblical proportions this coming summer.

Gunmen abduct three schoolgirls in Nigeria's Lagos State
No fewer than three students of the Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary (BMJS), Ikorodu have been abducted by gunmen. Some of the parents accused the school authorities of not providing adequate security within the boarding area.

They are now fifth in Turkey's Super League.

Galatasaray, who failed to get beyond the Champions League first round group this season and went out of the Europa League to Roma last week, said it hoped to be back in European competition after one year.

A UEFA statement said the ban was ordered by the UEFA club financial control adjudicatory chamber after Galatasaray "failed to comply with the terms of the settlement agreement" made with the European body in May 2014.

Chelsea star: What I thought about 'horrible' win over Norwich
We started to do it with draws but now we have won a few games in a row and that's encouraging. The other ones have stepped up, especially I'm happy with the progress of Traore.

In year 2000, the team defeated Arsenal on penalties in the final to win the Uefa Cup, and have played consecutively in the last four editions of the Champions League.

Both clubs were found to have broken Federation Internationale de Football Association rules in relation to global transfers of players less than 18 years of age. They are outside of the qualifying places for next season's Champions League and Europa League.

The ban will commence as of next season, yet will be suspended if the club fails to qualify for Europe in the next two season.
