CBS switches 2 series episodes because of Paris attacks

"Livewire" was a Thanksgiving-theme episode that explored various types of families, from blood to foster to found. And because no entry would be complete without a new supervillain, this time around Supergirl is in for a real shock. Still, throughout the episode, we see a brighter, more kind side of Cat Grant.

Episode 5 is scheduled to air on Monday night, November 23rd at 7pm central time on CBS. So if the ongoing storylines don't quite sync up or are a bit confusing, now you'll know why. This week, they spend their Thanksgiving out of town. That's not to say that we still don't have a loving family moment at the end, but that's kind of how real families work too.

Consider Benoist's reaction to Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush's comment that she was "pretty hot".

Back at Kara's place, Alex and her mom had words because her mom in fact was mad at Alex anyhow. Granted, by doing so, Kara has taken a courageous step, one that puts her at risk of rejection by her family and friends, and one that potentially puts her life and safety in jeopardy. As a result, Alex has the feeling that her mother will blame her for Kara's transformation into Supergirl, leaving her very stressed rather than thankful for the holiday. The best she can muster up in response is "um you too" (awkward). Cat calls (pardon the pun) Leslie into her office and tells her that Supergirl is off the table when it comes to people she can criticize. Since Livewire can become a being of pure energy at will, though, it's easy for her to escape. Obviously, there was the stuff between Alex and her mom, but I was more interested in Cat connecting the dots between how her mother treated her and how that informs how she treats others. The chopper has a mechanical failure and Supergirl needs to go rescue her. However, when she takes Leslie's hand to help her, Supergirl gets struck by lightning at the same time, causing a surge to go through Leslie as well. Not long afterward, Leslie wakes up and sneaks out of the hospital.

With Livewire airing before How Does She Do It? and not after, it is a clue that episode 105 doesn't really give away any huge spoilers for what happens in 104. Livewire tells her not, as she throws an electricity ball in Cat's path, but Cat dodges behind a auto. After the horrific attacks in France, CBS chose to switch this week's episode from "How Does She Do it?" to "Livewire". Throughout this really weird holiday, Eliza has wanted to get something off of her chest about her late husband Jeremiah Danvers (played by former Superman Dean Cain). Is he dead? Has he divorced Eliza? Viewers will learn his fate (maybe!) in the final scene. After listening to the broadcast with Winn at CatCo, Kara discovers that he has no one with whom he's spending Thanksgiving, so she invites him over to a "Friendsgiving" with her and her family. I'm definitely Team Winn when it comes to this romance triangle. How about the rest of you? Alex always thought that she needed to be more. They get caught, though, and there are repercussions. Alex left because she didn't want to hear it. After she left, we see a flashback to where as young girls Kara took Alex flying. Who's at the door? He died working for a man named...Hank Henshaw!!! So eventually she told her mother everything and that ended up in a fight that destroyed thanksgiving dinner. Cat wants to help take Livewire down, and asks Supergirl if she wants to be partners.

Alex's (Chyler Leigh) mother Eliza is critical of her own flesh and blood. I've already expressed my unhappiness with the DEO subplot that seems to be shaping up as the backbone for the larger story arc of the season, so it should come as no surprise that I'm not pleased to see that story worm its way even deeper into the DNA of the narrative. Granted, the character's outfit may have looked just a tad Power Rangers-lite or he could even easily be described as a Vision knock-off, but it would've still been cool to see what Red Tornado had to offer. That opening fight with Supergirl and a nameless alien at the DEO was really badass. What do you think happened to Jeremiah Danvers? Cat tells Leslie to tone it down on the Supergirl hate, but she says this is all part of her job and the media queen never had a problem whenever she targeted anybody else on the radio. Eliza explains that she was so much harder on Alex because she wanted Alex to be better than she was. Though I still don't buy that a normal woman with a grudge and these powers would randomly give themselves a nickname like Livewire without villain plans beyond taking care of the woman who fired them. It might be my favorite of the four that have aired. There's a lot of character building here, particularly for Alex and Cat, while still delivering the action that fans expect to see in each one of these entries.
