Ibrahimovic on target as Swedes edge Denmark

Sweden conceded a sloppy second-half goal but still clung on to a narrow 2-1 win against Denmark in the first leg of the play-off for the 2016 European Championships in France.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never been afraid to speak his mind and the Sweden striker said on Thursday that he had put France on the map of world football.

Sweden host Denmark in the first leg of their play-off on Saturday, with the return leg on 17 November. "But what I'm doing is enough, so if I can be old and weak, still I can play, so I will be more than happy then to continue". "I have put Sweden on the world map and now I have put France on the world map too".

Brondby midfielder Thomas Kahlenberg, who is hoping to earn a recall for the first time in a year, said: "We must not let ourselves be carried away by the excitement and buzz".

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed his goalscoring exploits for Paris St-Germain have "put France on the map".

The ESPN FC panel discuss the final Group G standings for the Euro 2016 group stage, with Russian Federation and Austria qualifying, and Sweden having to win a playoff to qualify.

"I want to be there, I have to be there", he told Gazzetta dello Sport when asked about Euro 2016.

The 34-year-old continued: "I don't think they will be my last games for Sweden - my age is not telling me to stop".

"I have tried to focus entirely on this game, but it was very hard", Ibrahimovic said.

Denmark struggled to create any clear chances until Jakob Poulsen headed a corner toward the far post where Joergensen slotted home.
