For the previous year, International Space Station Commander Scott Kelly - who has the coolest job title in existence - has been livetweeting his day-to-day orbiting around the Earth using the hashtag #YearInSpace. It's accepting applications through February 18, 2016.

NASA is providing live coverage as the two "year in space" crew, Kelly and Kornienko, along with cosmonaut Sergey Volkovcosmon return to Earth later today on the Soyuz spacecraft.

Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko hitched a ride back on Russia's Soyuz rocket. The Soyuz space capsule is scheduled to land in Kazakhstan at 11:25 p.m. EST.

He spent 340 days in space, but the toughest times may still be ahead for NASA astronaut Scott Kelly.

Kelly's return marks an important milestone in NASA's One-Year-Mission, dedicated to studying the human body's response to long-term stays in zero gravity.

The investigations will be pivotal in shaping the future manned mission to Mars.

"A really smart person said to me one time, 'team work makes the dream work in space flight, '" Kelly said as he gave the keys over the (space) kingdom to Kopra. Together with his identical twin brother - who is also an astronaut - Scott has participated in 10 investigations as part of NASA's Twin Study. They provided blood, saliva and urine samples, underwent ultrasounds and bone scans, got flu shots and more, all in the name of science.

Kelly and Kornienko were due to split up later Wednesday.

The space veteran said he has witnessed some of the most wonderful scenes of Earth during his mission, like spotting the northern lights, passing over the Bahamas and watching huge storms like Hurricane Patricia.

Kelly and Kornienko saw the arrival of six resupply spacecraft during their mission.
