Nevada Democratic caucuses: What's happening now in Reno and Vegas

Bernie Sanders, from campaigning in SC. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and his wife, Jane, have lunch with Jane's daughter Heather Titus and her husband Marc, Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at a restaurant in Elko, Nev.

Cook also estimates that Clinton needs to win 16 delegates in Saturday's Nevada caucuses to keep pace for the nomination.

On the Republican side, seven in 10 Republican caucus-goers identified themselves as Republicans, while a quarter said they were Independents in the 2012 SC primary. Sanders won 60 percent of the popular vote in that contest - Clinton carried 38 percent of the vote. "I just don't know where all this comes from", she said at a televised forum hosted by MSNBC on Thursday night.

Neither candidate is pursuing a single-track strategy. The state's heavy African-American population has helped Clinton build a massive lead there, and a big win could slow Sanders' momentum.

" It is more than just having a plan, it is about executing the plan and getting it through Congress and Hillary is the only candidate that has the relationships and experience to make that happen", said Morse.

Jim Clyburn: 'My heart has been with Hillary Clinton since Day 1'
When AP did this in November, Clinton led Sanders 359-8 in pledged support, meaning her already substantial margin has grown. During the 2008 presidential primary, Clyburn remained neutral in the battle between Clinton and Barack Obama.

As recently as mid-January, a poll from NBC, The Wall Street Journal and Marist found Clinton with a 33-point lead in SC.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon, Sanders described some of President Bill Clinton's biggest achievements, the North America Free Trade Agreement and welfare overhaul, as "disastrous". "There's been a lot of passion in this primary", the ex-president said.

"My heart has always been with Hillary Clinton, but my head had me in a neutral corner", he said at a news conference in Columbia.

"The other thing I've observed as he's run this remarkable campaign is how many young people are coming in", Welch said on the show.

Hillary Clinton picked up a key endorsement Friday from South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, the highest-ranking black representative in Congress.

In Virginia, It's Trump First, Then Rubio
On Tuesday, Trump repeatedly called Cruz a liar while speaking to the media and campaigning on the trail. Though Cruz and Rubio won't be sharing the stage Wednesday, there's plenty of opportunity for jousting.

Caucus doors open at 11am Saturday, with the actual process beginning at noon.

The claim was quickly batted back by the state's Democratic senator Harry Reid, who was instrumental in securing Nevada's "first in the west" position as an early-nominating state, in large part to ensure a more diverse state has a say early on in the primaries. "But her real strength is down here". As a former Secretary of State, Clinton should have an easy win or so the campaign wants us to believe.

In the closing days, Clinton has also stopped at multiple casinos, where she has been greeted warmly by the heavily-immigrant casino workers. "It's very aggravating to be bashed on my own computer by these people who it's probably the first time they've ever voted".

In South Carolina, which holds its primary next week, Clinton will need to carry 28 delegates.

Thomas reported from Elko, Nevada.
