Rams to lose Atogwe? Shoulder surgery possible

The St. Louis Rams have had a season to forget this year, but things may get worse before they get better for the team, as injuries are mounting and the remainder of the depth chart does not look good.

According to the official Rams Twitter feed, safety Oshiomogho Atogwe is currently suffering from a severe shoulder injury that will likely require surgery to correct, causing him to miss the remainder of the season. Atogwe is adamant that he will seek several opinions before coming to a decision, but it will be difficult at best for him to play as he is accustomed to with the injury, and surgery may be the best course of action for the long term.

Atogwe is widely considered to be one of the better safeties around the league, and is currently playing under the Rams franchise tag this season. It’s doubtful that St. Louis will want to break the bank for him in the off-season, given his injury issues, but if they can keep him around at a reasonable cost, they will do just that.
