According to a NFL.com Wire Report, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed WR Shaun McDonald and P Dirk Johnson to contracts this afternoon. Terms of the deals were not announced as of yet.

McDonald is a six year veteran of the league, spending four seasons in St. Louis and two in Detroit. He should provide quality depth in the Steelers receiving corps, and may push for playing time if fellow WR Limas Sweed is unable to step up his game this season.

Johnson is a well-traveled journeyman in the league, spending time with seven different clubs before landing in Pittsburgh. He should compete with Daniel Sepulveda for the starting job, although the Steelers could also opt to go in a completely different direction if neither player shows the ability they’re looking for in the position.
