Steelers have no clue on Big Ben’s injuries

According to the Associated Press, Pittsburgh is claiming to have no knowledge of the injuries that their QB Ben Roethlisberger is claiming to have played through during the Super Bowl. Roethlisberger told Sports Illustrated that his injuries – broken ribs in this case – only showed up during a MRI he took last week.

This isn’t the first time that Roethlisberger has pushed the idea that he played through painful injuries in crucial games, so it definitely gives a lot of folks from around the league some pause, as he could very well be mistating his medical condition to gain a higher level of notoriety. That being said, it’s hard to believe that he could be so naive as to think that he would need to fake an injury to prove his toughness, as he’s shown countless times that he is one of the best QBs in the league right now.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the coming weeks, although it’s not likely that either side will take a more dramatic step in having a second MRI done soon to prove Roethlisberger’s claim is indeed valid. It’s a strange ending to an otherwise superb NFL season, capped by the Steelers winning their sixth title under the calm direction of Roethlisberger, injuries and all.
