Browns deal Winslow to Bucs

It’s not the first official trade of the season, but it’s definitely the biggest.

According to James Walker (ESPN), Cleveland has agreed to trade tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. to Tampa Bay in return for several undisclosed draft picks.

Newly hired GM George Kokinis had this to say on the move:

“The Cleveland Browns thank Kellen for his contributions to this organization over the past five years. We appreciate his passion for the game and wish him success in Tampa Bay.”

“The draft picks we have obtained through this deal will give us greater flexibility as we look to infuse more talent and create competition and depth on this football team.”

Winslow should make an immediate impact for the Bucs, although they’ll have to address their quarterback position at some point this off-season if they want to truly take advantage of his abilities as a tight end.
