Conor McGregor Retirement Odds; Notorious Pulled From UFC 200

Despite the rift that saw Conor McGregor pulled from his upcoming fight against Nate Diaz, UFC president Dana White doesn't buy that the featherweight champion is actually retired but he won't be fighting at UFC 200.

Maybe a tweet welcoming McGregor back into the UFC fold will not be far away.watch this space.

"White mentioned that the promotion was putting "$10 million" into planned commercials and promotional material for McGregor vs. Diaz starting this weekend with shoots and media stops in Las Vegas, Stockton, California, and NY. "He's in Iceland training", White said on SportsCenter.

Cowherd asked White if he believes McGregor will fight again for him in the next year.

Sportswriters have posited that his apparent retirement had less to do with a disagreement with the UFC, and more to do with a realization of the dangers of the sport after one of McGregor's fellow fighters died following a fight. Earlier this month he tweeted: "3 years ago today, I began my crusade to take all you bums from 5 figure paydays to multi-seven-figure paydays".

The MMA community has erupted into chaos after McGregor's "retirement", but enough with the speculation - what happens to UFC 200? "Our relationship isn't damaged at all".

White was in a serious frame of mind when he added: "Conor needs to clean this up fast or Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar are fighting for the vacant featherweight title". All fans care about is the fights, and that's all they should care about. He has made significantly more in sponsorship and promotional work.

McGregor is still the UFC's featherweight champion, but Aldo and Edgar will meet for the interim belt.

It was the hopes of UFC to beat that number on July 9, and with the ever-popular McGregor at the helm of the event, it was certainly a possibility. Travelling from Portugal for a week's training, he wasn't even back in Dublin a full day before he left for Iceland to train alongside Gunnar Nelson at Mjolnir.

Then came the news of McGregor getting pulled off of UFC 200.

McGregor, 27, didn't want to fulfil media promotional duties in Las Vegas and that was given as the reason for his axing from the show. The news broke to us at the same time as everyone else. The conversation between himself and McGregor's team never turned foul. He cast doubt on the seriousness of McGregor's retirement announcement.
