The 88th Academy Awards honored a wild, woolly tale of frontier vengeance, a newspaper procedural about the investigation of a Catholic Church sexual abuse scandal, and a full-throttle post-apocalyptic feminist action pic Sunday night.

It was a clear upset victory, with The Revenant having earned several awards throughout the evening, most notably the first Academy Award for star Leonardo DiCaprio.

McCarthy told reporters on the arrivals red carpet he hadn't felt any nerves ahead of the Spirit Awards - but would be "a wreck" at the Oscars.
