Three rescued two days after Taiwan quake

TAINAN, Taiwan: Two people were pulled alive from the rubble of an apartment complex in Taiwan Monday, more than 50 hours after it was felled by a powerful natural disaster, as rescuers scrabbled to find 100 more still missing.

Rescue efforts are focused on the wreckage of the 17-storey building, where 117 people are listed as missing and are suspected to be buried deep under the rubble.

The quake struck at about 4 am on Saturday at the beginning of the Lunar New Year holiday, with nearly all the dead found in Tainan's toppled 16-storeyed Wei-guan Golden Dragon Building.
