This off-season has been filled to brim with speculation on quarterback Peyton Manning’s future in Indianapolis and it’s only going to increase as we move closer to the start of free agency in March.

The latest nugget of news comes courtesy of Bob Fescoe of 610AM Sports in Kansas City, who’s hearing that the Chiefs and agent Tom Condon, the representative for Manning, have spoken twice this off-season.

Condon represents quite a few players, so it may be nothing more than a friendly chat about several in house free agents, but the mere fact that they’re talking is indication enough that Kansas City may be a possible destination for the elder Manning brother.

Discussing actual numbers with Condon with regard to Manning would constitute tampering under the NFL’s rules, so it’s doubtful his name was ever mentioned in the conversation, but if the Chiefs have any real interest in bringing Manning into the fold, you can bet they made it clear in some fashion to Condon in their talks.

The financials on the part of Kansas City seem to be a fit for what’s needed to land Manning, and the Chiefs young and upcoming roster won’t hurt in that regard either, so while it may not amount to anything, the possibility exists that the Chiefs are contemplating an addition to make a major run.

Provided Manning ends up being available, a marriage between him and Kansas City would be a nice fit and one that will inevitably evoke memories of the trade that sent legendary quarterback Joe Montana from the 49ers to the Chiefs late in his career 19 years ago.
