Vince Young deal with Philadelphia almost complete?

Now that the Eagles have sent backup quarterback Kevin Kolb out west to the Cardinals, finding someone to step up into his spot has become paramount, especially given the physical style of play that Michael Vick tends to employ.

Enter former Titans quarterback Vince Young, who found himself at odds with his former head coach Jeff Fisher last season and quickly wore out his welcome in Tennessee with the way he reacted publicly after being benched.

According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer, a one year deal between the Eagles and Young is on the verge of being completed and will likely be signed by both parties at some point early tomorrow. Breer’s report runs counter to what other sources are reporting, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter cautioning against pronouncing the deal complete, as Young cannot technically speak with teams until he first clears waivers.

That said, a deal between Philadelphia and Young has been rumored for some time now, and makes sense on a number levels. Having Young as the primary backup for Vick allows Andy Reid to not have to run different offensive sets if Vick  gets hurt or has to come off the field, given the similar styles both players have as quarterbacks.

We’ll have more on this as it breaks, so keep it locked right here for all the latest news.
