Vikings, Frazier to tab Singletary for new coaching staff

Just a few weeks removed from his dismissal as the head coach in San Francisco, Mike Singletary is close to taking a job with the Vikings as the team’s new linebackers coach, replacing the current holder of that job, Fred Pagac, who is expected to step into the defensive coordinator role next season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news of Singletary’s expected destination earlier this morning. While it would seem at first glance that he is selling himself a bit short, in that Singletary should be able to attain a coordinator position somewhere in the league, taking a job under his close friend and former teammate Leslie Frazier, may make the most sense, as he’ll be able to quickly revamp his image with the kind of talent he’ll have at his disposal.
