Roethlisberger exit from Pittsburgh coming soon?

Over the past six seasons, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been nothing short of miraculous for his franchise and the city of Pittsburgh as a whole.

He’s led the Steelers to two Super Bowl victories, set all sorts of records with the club, and in general set himself up to eventually leave the team one day as the best ever at his position in the Steel City.

But after seeing two separate sexual assault charges involving Roethlisberger come to light recently, fans of the team are beginning to push for the Steelers to send their troubled quarterback packing for a new home, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Charles Robinson and ESPN’s Michael Smith.

No formal accusation was ever made by the prosecuting attorneys involved in either case, but Roethlisberger clearly lost his battle in the court of public opinion, and as such may end up forcing the Rooney family, who have owned the Steelers since its inception in 1933, to trade him away to the highest bidder in the coming weeks.

Obviously, the Rooneys and the Steelers front office will spend a significant amount of time discussing any sort of move involving Roethlisberger, as he is clearly the best quarterback on their roster, and his loss would undoubtedly cause the team to lose many more games next season than they would with him behind center. But the fact that the team is even considering such a scenario makes it clear that the ownership will do whatever it takes to ensure that their fan base is satisfied, even if it means trading away a proven performer at the most crucial position on the field.

As always, we’ll keep you posted if and when we hear anything on this story.

screw big ben the only thing that made him was the oline and the fact he weighs 300 pounds that for sure would mean it would be hard to tackle him. all the trouble hes been causing for the steelers they should boot his @ss off the team and the leauge. that would send a real message.

  • what?

    the oline made him-ok.

oh…my…god…sure, why not?, lets burn the franchise to the ground, he is just a rich, single, successfull young man that basically did what THIS society want us to believe we should do…live large and enjoy yourself no matter what…all of a sudden everybody is all about values and morality, please, give me a break, let the guy play the game, he is not nor should be a role model, he is just a QB, if you need a public figure to be the example to your kids that YOU can not be, well, that's your issue. Let the guy win games for the team that I root for, let him alone on whetever he does on his private life. c'mon…

Sell him off. If you can get the 16th pick from the 49ers or even a high pick from the Browns you take it. Is Ben worth it? Probably not, he'll be suspended at least 2 games, but his contract is almost half way paid completely by the Steelers, giving him a very manageable contract for a star QB. It's Dennis Dixon time in Pittsburgh, dind't have great numbers in his game last year, but he looked real good and high potential like we saw at Oregon before he got injured.

I say move him to Ram's for number 1 pick and Steve Jackson they get a seasoned QB and we get the pick and very good RB.

Why is everyone trying to hang Big Ben? Lets take a look at this.
    1. Why was a twenty yesr old in a club anyway?
    2. Wasn't it past her bed time?
    3. She changed her story 3 times.
    4. She don't remember if she did or didn't?
    5. Lets get rid of a good QB and blame everything on him. Why not ask Homes.
    6. Let him play ball and let the Steelers be great like they once were!!

Uh, "charges in both cases were dropped"?? The first is a CIVIL suit and the second? NO CHARGES were ever filed! At least TRY and report it correctly!

Thanks for the comment Tom. I think you’re reading too far in to what I wrote. I was clearly trying to indicate that legally speaking, there’s nothing present that would cause Roethlisberger any difficulty.

Could I have worded it differently? Maybe. Does it really matter? I don’t think it does but obviously to you it does. My apologies for not making things more clear for you.
