Here’s a quick roundup of the headlines this morning…

  • Former Broncos RB Ryan Torain is will workout for the Packers this morning. Torain was thought by some to be Denver’s running back of the future, but he never seemed to stay healthy, and was released this season with an injury settlement.
  • Vikings rookie OT Phil Loadholt fully expects to be back at practice this week in preperation for a showdown next sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Loadholt missed last week’s game against the Rams.
  • Health issues stemming from concussions could force 49ers LB Jeff Ulbrich and S Michael Lewis to end their seasons prematurely. Lewis has already suffered three seperate concussions this season and is expected to receive further testing during San Francisco’s bye week. Ulbrich is not ruling out retirement, depending on the analysis of the neurologist he’s seeing this week, after having had multiple concussions in his past.
  • Vikings QB Brett Favre was non-committal when asked about his plans for next season, during an interview on former Seahawks and Packers head coach Mike Holmgren’s radio show. Favre is signed through 2010, but retirement is always an option for the future Hall of Famer.
  • After his showboating antics led to a fumble last week against the Falcons, 49ers CB Dre Bly privately and publicly apologized to head coach Mike Singletary and the rest of his team. Bly intercepted a pass by Atlanta QB Matt Ryan, and proceeded to show off a “Deion Sanders style move” while running down the field. Bly was initially unapologetic, stating “Dre’s going to be Dre” after the game.
